Victoria Beckham Achieves A Significant Triumph As One Of Her Gowns Debuts At The Met Gala For The First Time, With Phoebe Dynevor Captivating In A Pink VB Dress

Phoebe Dynevor’s inaugural concert experience was attending a Spice Girls performance. Tonight, she achieves a remarkable milestone as the first individual to grace the Met Gala in attire crafted by Victoria Beckham—or affectionately known as Posh to Dynevor and countless other young girls who revered the essence of Girl Power.

“The ten-year-old version of myself could never have anticipated this,” the actress shared with Vogue just days before donning her VB gown.

The exquisite ensemble boasts hundreds of meticulously hand-cut flowers delicately stitched onto ethereal tulle and vintage lace, each dyed to a “faded rose” hue meticulously selected to harmonize with the Bridgerton star’s complexion.

Dynevor’s romantic gown is the first full custom Victoria Beckham look at the Met Gala, a semi-transparent confection that is, per the brand, “at once fragile and delicate.”

“It’s like something out of a fairytale,” said the 29-year-old actor—which is apt, given that tonight’s ball celebrates the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, which takes “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” as its theme. “It has this beautiful train with flowers going all the way up it… it’s very ethereal.”

That bespoke shade of pink also represents new territory for Dynevor, who is most often found wearing black or white. “I’m very excited to be wearing color! It’s definitely new for me.”

“We decided to use vintage lace from our archives, as there was something quite romantic about reviving it and bringing it back to life—much like a sleeping beauty,” Beckham told Vogue. “[Phoebe is] such a beautiful, talented young woman, and I really wanted to design the gown with her in mind—to be almost like an extension of her. We even hand-dyed the flowers to match her skin.”

Courtesy of Sofia Tilbury, niece of makeup maestro Charlotte Tilbury, Phoebe Dynevor’s stunning beauty ensemble further enhances the fairytale ambiance. It features radiant and glossy skin, flushed cheeks, and rosebud lips reminiscent of a princess straight out of a Brothers Grimm tale.

A classic English rose, Dynevor’s “ethereal, radiant beauty creates such a perfect canvas for capturing tonight’s magical theme!” said Charlotte Tilbury, whose cult classic Magic Cream was used to prime the star’s skin before a veil of Beautiful Skin Foundation was applied. Sofia Tilbury explained that they wanted Dynevor’s make-up to have the same “soft, romantic vibe” as her VB gown. “We really wanted to create that harmony between her outfit and her make-up, with soft, blooming cheeks and rosebud-stained lips.”

Dynevor, who made her Met debut in 2022 in black lace Louis Vuitton, said she was marginally less nervous ahead of this year’s red carpet. “The funny thing about going for the first time is you just have no idea what to expect,” she said. “There’s so much going on, and you’re seeing all these [famous] people walking in and wanting to stare at them instead…”

This time around, Dynevor said she was looking forward to seeing co-host Zendaya’s look (“She always kills on the carpet”), spotting her favorite musicians (“I get the most starstruck by pop stars or rappers”), and celebrating British female talent on an international stage. “To be walking the carpet with Charlotte Tilbury wearing Victoria Beckham… it feels like a really great British moment.”

This marks the most recent achievement in a series of significant milestones for VB. She has secured a permanent slot on the Paris Fashion Week schedule and recently commemorated her 50th birthday in the company of her husband David, children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, along with her fellow Spice Girls.

“The Met ball is one of the most high-profile events of the year, so obviously having a full custom Victoria Beckham look on the red carpet–for the first time–is a bit of a landmark moment for us!” the designer said. “I think it’s a testament to how far the brand has come since 2008.”
