Meg Ryan Graces The Met Gala For The First Time In Over Two Decades, Adorned In A Breathtaking Sheer Black Gown Designed By Michael Kors

The beloved rom-com star graced the Met Gala after a two-decade hiatus, stunning in a black Michael Kors gown adorned with floral embellishments and featuring a sheer bodice.

With her signature blonde wavy lob hairstyle, 62-year-old Ryan posed gracefully alongside Kors, 64, flashing radiant smiles for the cameras.

This marked Ryan’s return to the Met Gala since her last appearance in 2001, where she opted for a knee-length dress with a pearly white bodice and black pleated skirt, complemented by strappy black kitten heels.

At that time, her blonde hair was styled straight at a similar length, and she accessorized with understated stud earrings. The 2001 Gala’s theme was “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years,” contrasting with this year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

The Met Gala isn’t the only occasion where Ryan’s fashion choices have turned heads. While promoting her romantic comedy What Happens Later last month, she channeled her iconic ’90s style with a chic tan maxi skirt, a black vest top, and chunky black shoes.

Renowned for her roles in classics like When Harry Met Sally (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and You’ve Got Mail (1998), Ryan became a style icon of the ’80s and ’90s.

Her laid-back yet polished fashion sense set trends at the time and has since experienced a resurgence, with TikTok creators embracing her trademark cozy style of chunky sweaters, oversize blazers, and loafers, affectionately naming it “Meg Ryan Fall.”

The actress reacted to the trend in an October 2023 interview saying it was “so sweet” and “the cutest thing ever.”

“I saw pictures of girls trying on hats. I don’t know why it has anything remotely to do with me, but it is so sweet. It kills me,” Ryan continued.

Appearing on the cover of Glamour’s December 2023 issue to promote What Happens Later — her first movie since 2015 — Ryan spoke about how “aging is not that terrifying.”

“Our culture is so obsessed with youth,” she said. “As an old person now, I love my age. I love where I’m at.”

“We’re all doing it. I wish someone had told me earlier, ‘Just relax. It is what it is. Don’t pay attention to the obstacles,’” Ryan added.
