Angel Reese, The Basketball Star, Makes Debut Appearance At The #Metgala

Angel Reese, the LSU basketball standout and newest member of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, graced the Met Gala for the first time on May 6 — and her ensemble certainly scored points.

Celebrating her 22nd birthday at the event, Reese donned a dazzling 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo gown.

The shimmering mint-green dress boasted a halter neckline with a plunging V-neck and a sheer, floor-length skirt adorned with feather accents at the waist. Completing her look, Reese styled her long hair into a chic ponytail swept back

The WNBA player celebrated her big night on X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, “Training camp in the morning, Met Gala at night, preseason game tomorrow. Just another day in the life for Angel Reese.”

Reese, affectionately dubbed the “Bayou Barbie” during her college years, is carving out a niche for herself in the fashion world. The talented forward made a striking fashion statement at the WNBA draft in April when she was chosen by the Chicago Sky as the seventh pick.

Opting for a bold look, she adorned herself in a shimmering black and silver gown featuring a hood, plunging scoop neckline, and an alluring open back.

In May 2023, Reese graced the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, further cementing her presence in the fashion realm. Additionally, in April of this year, she made headlines by announcing her decision to enter the WNBA draft through a captivating article and photoshoot for Vogue.

“I didn’t want anything to be basic,” she told the outlet about how she announced the news. “I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” she explained of her decision to go pro. “I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro — and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I’m ready.”

Regarding her fashion sense, she expressed to the outlet that she identifies as a “girly girl” while maintaining her prowess as a “killer on the court.”

In June 2023, following her recent achievement as a national champion, she shared with PEOPLE her occasional feelings of being “overwhelmed” by the spotlight, yet largely viewed the attention in a positive light.

“It’s a blessing, honestly. I’ve kind of embraced it. People are watching me,” she explained. “I mean, it’s a fast life I’m living. I think I have to mature quickly.”
